Former Devolution and Planning cabinet secretary Ann Waiguru has revealed why she opted out of the Nairobi gubernatorial race barely weeks after expressing interest.
In an interview with Radio Jambo on Wednesday morning, Waiguru claimed that her supporters from her home Kirinyaga county prevailed upon her to contest in the area instead of Nairobi.
"It was my supporters who told me to contest in Kirinyaga because they believe I can transform the county for the better instead of doing so in Nairobi," she said.
She added that her entry into politics is not ill-informed or aimed at covering her past, saying all she wants is to serve her fellow constituents.
Waiguru who has since joined The National Alliance (TNA) party will face off with incumbent Joseph Ndathi for the Kirinyaga gubernatorial seat in 2017.
