The embattled former CS who resigned after graft was reported in her ministry said she has deliberated not to vie in Nairobi but her home county to represent her people.

"Since I left after my name was marred with corruption, many have been telling me to vie for Nairobi governor. To some extent I agreed but after consulting widely I have seen it prudent to vie for Kirinyaga governor," said Waiguru.

This comes when the incumbent Kirinyaga Governor, Joseph Ndathi has said he will be seeking re-election come next year.

Kenya Ambassador to the US, Robinson Njeru Githae who lost in 2013 to Ndathi has also said he will vie for the same seat.

The former Ndia MP and Minister for Finance is expected to have an easy time convincing the people of Kirinyaga due to his wealth of experience in politics.
