Kirinyaga Governor Ann Waiguru is ready for a court battle with her rival in August 8 poll, Martha Karua.
This is after the Narc Kenya boss moved to court seeking to have Waiguru's victory overturned on grounds of irregularities.
Karua, accompanied by her lawyer Gitobu Imanyara, filed a petition at Kerugoya High Court on Tuesday.
But speaking when he toured the giant Mwea Irrigation Scheme, Waiguru hit out at Karua saying she was not afraid of defending her win in court.
"I am ready to meet Karua in court and defend myself. I believe I won the seat fairly and therefore I have nothing to worry about," Waiguru said.
The former Devolution Cabinet Secretary added: "My victory is the will of Kirinyaga people who turned out in large numbers to vote for me."
Waiguru, the Jubilee Party candidate garnered 161,343 votes against Karua who got 122,091 votes.
Bernard Kagai emerged third with a little over 10,000 votes.
More than 15 losers in the gubernatorial races across the country have moved to court to file petitions.
