Former Devolution Cabinet Secretary Anne Waiguru has lamented over the resources she wasted to prepare for nominations only for the party top brass to cancel them at the last minute.
According to Waiguru, who is eyeing the Kirinyiga gubernatorial seat in August, it is in order for Jubilee leadership to compensate her and other aspirants for the great losses they have suffered following the change in the nomination date.
“Campaigns are a very expensive exercise and we have spent enormous amounts of resources moving up and down,” she said, as quoted by Standard.
Her sentiments were reiterated by Uasin Gishu Governor Jackson Mandago who also said that he has spent a lot of money on the preparations for the primaries.
The governor, who is seeking to defend his seat in August, said that he will have to incur all those costs himself, which is not good for his campaigns.
“We used a lot of money to facilitate movement and set up campaign structures. I had to pay my agents for their involvement yesterday, yet the elections were not held and I will have to pay them again. We have to spend more money until the exercise is repeated,” he said.
Mandago is set to lock horns with Bundotich Zedekiah Kiprop (Buzeki) in one of the toughest races at the county level.
