Kirinyaga Governor Anne Waiguru has called on her new Cabinet members to help her transform the county, warning them against “mediocrity in service delivery”.
Addressing the members of the County Executive Committee after swearing in yesterday, Waiguru said their performance bar is set too high and they must deliver as expected.
Accompanied by her deputy Peter Ndambiri, Waiguru said she won’t hesitate to fire anyone who fails to meet expectations.
She said she has an ambitious plan to reinvent Kirinyaga and she needed a team of dedicated workers to deliver the dream.
She, however, exuded confidence with the team, saying they were the most qualified.
“There will be no time to celebrate. They should not accompany their families home for celebrations. I expect them to go straight to the office for familiarisation and briefing from respective chief offices and directors so that we can start work immediately,” she said.
“I don’t expect excuses but solutions on whatever we do because the people of Kirinyaga expect much from us,” said Waiguru.
Three of the county ministers are Ph.D. holders in various fields and another is an Anglican prelate. Jakan Gutu, who is in charge of the Agriculture docket, is her predecessor Joseph Ndathi’s cousin while the Finance counterpart is a former accountant with KUKENA matatu Sacco, Moses Migwi.
