Waikenda spoke on Monday in Githurai, saying that youths should venture into business and earn a living to ensure better future for their families. She said that this would also tame drug abuse.

John Kiruta one of the members of the group told the press that they had been hustling to make their ends meet and that the donation by the county government was helpful. He said that they were moving in a direction to make their lives better and to feed their families.

Kiruta said that he would ensure that the business grew to enable the purchase of new machines in the area. He urged the youth to venture into small businesses to make legal money and relinquish crime’s hold on them.

However Waikenda expressed concerns with the high number of drug users in the area, he urged youths to work with the local chiefs to tame insecurity and the misuse of drugs.

“Kiambu youths, try and work with local administrators and help the county from illicit and homemade alcohol to avoid unnecessary deaths,” said Waikenda

He urged parents to take their children to school saying that education was the most powerful weapon to change the world with.
