The executive while speaking to youth groups at Kikuyu Trading Centre on Tuesday said the county government has put in place various measures aimed at addressing challenges facing the youths.

“We as the county government recognise the challenges facing the youth and have put in place appropriate measures to address the same,” he said.

The executive stated that he has reports of many young people who have turned to crime out of desperation for lacking employment.

“Crime should not be an optional for the young people that have lacked job opportunities,” said Waikenda.

He added that crime will only make things worse for the youth noting that the law will not spare them.

He intimated that the Sh 300 million Biashara Fund launched last year is meant to empower the youths, women and persons with disabilities.

The executive added that the Fund is easily accessible for everyone who wishes to expand his or her business enterprise.

Waikenda promised Kiambu youths that the count government ii keen to address all the challenges facing them before the 2017 general elections.
