Jubilee Party Secretary-General Raphael Tuju has hit out at the Opposition alliance for claiming they won't recognise the presidency of President Uhuru Kenyatta.
Kenyatta was on Monday declared the winner of the October 26 repeat election with 7,483,895 votes of the 7,616,217 valid votes cast.
NASA led by Raila Odinga boycotted the polls they termed as 'illegal', calling for a fresh election in 90 days.
In an opinion piece published by The Standard on Tuesday, Tuju said Kenyatta was validly elected, terming NASA's claims 'laughable'.
"The Opposition declaring to the effect that there should be another election within 90 days is laughable. The narrative is a mere opinion which they have a right to hold," he said.
Tuju likened Kenyatta to Donald Trump, the United States President, who did not stop ruling despite protesters marching in the streets with placards denouncing him soon after the USA elections.
"There is even one Makau Mutua who confessed after the 2013 elections that he would not recognise Kenyatta as president, did that change matters?" he posed.
The former Cabinet Secretary told NASA leadership to stop operating in a 'buffoonery state' and wait for 2022 to wrestle Jubilee again.
"Sadly for them, the Constitution doesn't envisage a situation where an election can be called after a politician gathers his followers and impose a date for an election to the nation," he noted.
Tuju added: "The Opposition should know that the law will be tough on them if they plan to make the country ungovernable as they have promised."
