Nakuru County Assembly Majority leader Samuel Waithuki has said that the government was very right to order the UN to make plans to take all the refugees at the Daadab camp back to their country, Somalia.
Waithuki, who was speaking to the press outside the Nakuru County Assembly building said that it is through that camp that majority of the terrorists in this country are bred.
“I support the government’s move to close down the Daadab refugee camp due to the increase in terrorists cases. I believe that the camp has been responsible for breeding the ground terrorists in this country and the best way to curb insecurity in this country is to first close down the camp,’ said Waithuki.
Waithuki went ahead and urged the leaders not to politicize the issue of the Daadab camp.
“I kindly ask our leaders to stop politicizing the relocation of the refugees’ issues. This is a very sensitive matter to the whole country and the government should go ahead and do what is right in ensuring that its citizens are protected,” he added.
The Majority leader said that the camp housed more than half a million refugees from Somali, which is a very huge number.
“It becomes very difficult to regulate and monitor all the refugees there since they are more than double the number required to be there,” added the leader.
He also urged all the Kenyans to be very vigil and to ensure that they work closely with the security agents and to at all times report any activities that seems to be unusual.
