Kabete MP Ferdinand Waititu has accused opposition leader Raila Odinga of allegedly plotting to sabotage the country’s economy through the Eurobond malicious allegations.
Addressing residents at Kabete Town on Saturday, Waititu said that the opposition is determined to scare away investors through its malicious allegations about the government use Euro bond proceeds.
Reacting to Odinga’s recent naming of alleged suspects in the Euro bond saga, Waititu termed Odinga’s accusation as baseless and meant to tarnish the image of government officials.
“Mr Odinga and his camp should stop tarnishing the name of government officials by linking them to malicious allegations which he himself cannot prove,” said Waititu.
The Kabete MP said that Odinga is using the Euro bond saga to gain political relevance.
Waititu wondered why Odinga and the opposition were keen on the Euro bond saga despite the Ethics and Anti-Corruption Commission (EACC) in its investigations declaring that no money was misused.
On Thursday last week, Odinga released a list of people he said should explain on how the Euro bond proceeds were used. The Former Prime Minister maintained that the Euro bond proceeds cannot be accounted for.
Several leaders including Kikuyu MP Kimani Ichung'wa and her Thika Town counterpart Alice Nga’ng’a have accused Odinga of allegedly targeting hard-working government officials by linking them to suspicious scandals.
Speaking at Parliament Buildings in Nairobi on Friday, Ichung'wa referred to Odinga as the master of poverty accusing him of being envious of Jubilee government development progress.
The leaders have since asked government officials who were named by Odinga in the Euro bond saga to sue him for criminal libel.
