Kabete MP Ferdinand Waititu has called on law enforcers in Kiambu County to increase surveillance and guarantee residents security.
Speaking at Kiratina village in Ruiru on Wednesday during the burial of John Waweru, the director of Githunguri Ranching Company who was killed by gunmen on Monday last week at Zimmerman estate last week, said that crime was slowly returning in some parts of Kiambu.
Waititu said that law enforcers need to boost surveillance and arrest criminal goons. “We cannot have criminals kill hard working Kenyans every day when we have the police,” he said.
The Kabete MP urged the police to hunt down the gunmen behind the killing of the director. He said that residents have a right to security which the law agencies must provide at all times.
Waititu also called for sensitisation of resident’s o security operations and measures.
He observed that most locals fear the police making them reluctant to provide information on the whereabouts of criminals.
“Law enforcers must engage with the locals and create a good relationship that will boost security,” added Waititu.
Speaking at the burial, Juja lawmaker Francis Munyua urged the police to increase patrols. Munyua observed that crime rate was steadily increasing in some parts of the county.
“The police must not tire up in the fight against crime and must also ensure safety of residents and their property is guaranteed,” said Munyua.
