Leaders in Kiambu County have been asked to be responsible and practise integrity when discharging their duties to the public who elected them into office.Speaking in Gatundu town, the newly elected Kiambu County governor Ferdinand Waititu said that under the new constitution the citizens have been empowered to recall their elected leaders who become irresponsible and corrupt.“We’re the ones who elect these leaders to office and as the people, we have the mandate to recall them if they cannot be accountable and deliver on their promises,” said Waititu. The governor said that the aim of every leader is to ensure that the people of Kiambu's welfare are taken care of.

“We’re very happy because Gatundu people have elected a strong team and soon we will be going to see the sub-county administrator to warn him against soliciting money haphazardly from the innocent public,” added the governor.

He said that leaders in their different positions of leadership should emulate President Kenyatta by abiding by the law.

“I am requesting the leaders here in Kiambu County to be responsible to the citizens and when we raise financial queries we’re not fighting the small county government, we’re simply asking for accountability for the money given to them by the national government and the ones they have collected from the county,” said Waititu.
