Kiambu County Governor Ferdinand Waititu who is also the Council of Governors Committee Chairman on Urban Planning, chaired a consultative meeting with 8 Governors on Sunday on the sidelines of the UN-Habita 9th Forum.
The forum is being held in the Malaysian capital Kuala Lumpur.
Waititu who is leading the Kenyan delegation, convened the ad-hoc meeting to discuss true contentious Urban Areas and Cities Act of 2011 which is re-introducing municipalities in Kenya as well as creating new cities.
The other Governors present included Jackson Mandago of Uasin Gishu, Patrick Khaemba of Trans Nzoia, Meru Governor Kiraitu Murungi, Stephen Sang of Kericho, Stanley Kiptis of Baringo and Lee Kinyanjui of Nakuru.
Murang’a Governor Mwangi wa Iria was represented by Deputy Governor Maina Kamau.
Those who accompanied Waititu include Assembly Speaker Stephen Ndichu, CEC Planning James Maina and his Chief Officer Planner James Ndung’u, Chairman of Planning committee in the Assembly Hon Raphael Chege Waithumbi and Chief of Staff Gibson Mburu.
The Conference will end on the February 14, 2018.
