Waititu accused his political rivals of spreading baseless propaganda meant to make constituents lose trust in him.

“I have been in India for the past one month where I was undergoing brain cancer treatment. I didn’t use CDF money to get air ticket for my trip and pay for my hospital bills. Those claiming that I used CDF money to facilitate my trip to India should provide evidence to support their claims,” Waititu said.

The legislator urged residents to shun politicians giving handouts and empty promises to remain politically relevant.

"I am appealing to my constituents to avoid politicians who are out to make a point by spreading false information to taint my name. I am ready to defend myself in a court of law if I have embezzled any public money,” he added.

He assured that CDF funds will be used appropriately to initiate various developmental projects in the constituency to improve the lifestyles of the people.
