Speaking during an interview with Citizen TV on Friday, Waititu said he reassigned his ministers without involving his deputy because he (Nyoro) was out of the country at the time he made the changes.

While acknowledging the existing differences between him and Nyoro, the governor defended his move, saying it won't cause more tension between them.

He said their row is based on differences in approach to issues, which is normal in any professional relationship.

"We agree and disagree sometimes, and that happened even during campaign. We don’t have to agree throughout but the most important thing is that we move together,” said Waititu, as quoted by Citizen Digital.

On Tuesday, the county boss reassigned four county executives in a move he said was aimed at improving efficiency and service delivery.

But the transfer of Eng. John Mugwe from the Roads, Transport, Public Works and Utilities to the Water, Environment, Energy & Natural Resources Ministry has caused uproar, with some residents accusing Waititu of focusing on 2022 poll instead of fulfilling his election pledges.

Mugwe, who is said to be eyeing governor's seat, has been touted as the 'best performing' CeC.

"You are barely one year old in that docket. What informed the change or its more of being removed from the limelight..just carry the enthusiasm and hard work to the new docket," Njoroge James urged.

"For the last five months engineer Mugwe has delivered what the governor will not accomplish in five years," Sammy Gachigua posted on Facebook.
