During the meeting on Friday, angry residents charged at Governor Ferdinand Waititu after he ordered county Assembly members to be returning officers in the committee elections.

The residents said the governor should not use the MCAs to act as returning officers yet the Ward reps were not neutral during the exercise.

The angry Kikuyu residents claimed that those who were allegedly elected were rigged in by MCAs who have selfish interests in the committees.

Governor Waititu was forced to prematurely dash out of the meeting and drive off before he announced the names of those elected to be members of the committee.

The angry crowd while chanting anti-Waititu slogans said they will not accept the committee officials adding that they were not their choice.

“We will not accept the MCAs elected as returning officers. They will just favour their friends instead of the ones we choose," said Mr James Maina, a resident.

“We will go to court to challenge the election of the new officials if the MCAs will be used to oversee the exercise. The leaders selected don’t represent the will of the people,” he added.
