Former Limuru MP George Nyanja, who has been out of active politics since his defeat in the 2013 Kiambu senatorial seat, has resurfaced and is making a second attempt to dislodge Senator Kimani Wamatangi.
Launching his campaigns in Limuru on Saturday, Nyanja said the current Kiambu county leadership has failed to fulfill election pledges made during the campaigns.
He claimed that the current leadership under Governor Kabogo has failed the people of Kiambu.
"The people of Kiambu elected this devolved government with high expectations that their lives will be made better but they have been shortchanged. We need to get rid of this leadership and put in place a government that cares for its people," he said.
Nyanja, who served as Limuru MP for two terms between 1992 and 2002, is said to be associated with Kabete MP Ferdinand Waititu's camp.
The former MP also rallied the youth to reject leaders out to misuse them during campaigns for their own selfish interests.
"Watch out for politicians out there looking forward to misuse you to cause chaos and destruction of property particularly at this campaign period," he told the youth gathering in Ndeiya.
