Gubernatorial hopeful on a Jubilee Party ticket Ferdinand Waititu has identified unemployment as the biggest problem facing Kiambu residents.

Waititu, the Kabete MP, accused the incumbent Governor William Kabogo of enacting punitive trade licenses which have kept off potential investors.

The legislator promised to get rid of unfriendly business policies in a bid to attract investors should he clinch power in next month's polls.

“We will work as a team with MCA’s to have a common front that will ensure we do away with unfavourable business policies that Kabogo enacted because we really want to curb the alarming rate of unemployment through investments,” he said speaking at the Blue Post Hotel, Thika.

“We will look into all laws that are governing the current government to ensure we get rid of all those that are unfriendly and those that scare investors away,” he added.

Waititu said he is in contact with investors who had resolved to partner with his administration to establish industries in the county that will offer job opportunities, particularly to the unemployed youth.

He said his government would be accommodative and will focus on improving the livelihood of the common citizens, whom he said have suffered at the hands of Governor Kabogo.

"We are determined to change the lives of Kiambu people through improving their welfare. Our county is rich but the resources have been misused by the ruling government," the JP candidate remarked.
