Kiambu Governor Ferdinand Waititu has reiterated his commitment to end the manufacture, sale and consumption of illicit brews in every corner of Kiambu County.
Speaking at St. James ACK Church Kanyariri in Kabete Sub-county on Sunday during a thanksgiving service, Waititu said that alcoholism has been a major deterrent in Kiambu development and he is not going to watch as alcohol destroys the lifes of young people and families.
"Let me affirm to this congregation the commitment of my government in the fight against all vices in our society especially in the manufacturing, selling and consumption of illicit brews and drug abuse which is rapidly riping off our next generation," said Waititu.
The governor noted that the fight is on and they are only going to stop when Kiambu is completely rid off illicit brews.
At the same time, Waititu also highlighted some of the ongoing and upcoming projects in line with what he said was his manifesto of 'making Kiambu better'.
"We have already started the upgrading and construction of Wangige market, the process of King'eero road expansion is on, and the planned sewerage projects for various areas in Kabete and Kikuyu constituencies are underway," he said.
Waititu was accompanied by his deputy Dr. James Nyoro, Kiambu County Assembly Majority Leader, Anthony Ikonya and Gitaru Ward MCA Phillip Njoroge.
