Kiambu gubernatorial aspirant Ferdinand Waititu now wants Governor William Kabogo to reveal the source of cash he allegedly used to buy expensive armoured campaign vehicles.
Waititu has questioned Kabogo’s source of money he is said to have splashed on campaign vehicles ahead of the August 8 polls.
Addressing supporters in Ruiru on Wednesday, Waititu alleged that he might have used the taxpayer’s money to buy campaign vehicles.
The Kabete MP further alleged that the governor could be using county money to fund his re-election campaigns.
“We want Governor Kabogo to come out clearly and tell Kiambu people the source of the money he sued to buy expensive armoured vehicles,” he said on Wednesday.
The Kiambu governor hopeful said that Kiambu people are not fools accusing him of using county funds to run his personal activities.
“It is shameful for the governor to parade expensive armoured vehicles when most Kiambu people are sleeping hungry,” he added.
Waititu cautioned locals against re-electing him saying that the governor has done nothing to better their lives.
The Kabete MP claimed that Kiambu is one of the poorest counties yet it receives huge funding from the national government.
Last week, Kabogo unveiled state of the art armoured vehicles for his re-election campaigns which were displayed during President Uhuru Kenyatta’s tour of Kiambu last week left locals talking.
During the launch of his re-election campaigns in Thika last week, Kabogo said that his administration has performed to deserve re-election. The flamboyant governor asked his rivals to brace up for a humiliating defeat in the August 8 polls.
Both Kabogo and Waititu are eyeing Jubilee Party ticket to contest for the top seat in the August 8 general election.
