Kiambu Governor Ferdinand Waititu has redeployed ward administrators and “reassigned” their roles to Members of County Assembly (MCAs).

The governor attributed run-away corruption and harassment of investors in the previous administration to the ward administrators.

He spoke at the county headquarters during the swearing in ceremony of nine County Executive Committee (CEC) members when he said that the ward administrators have since been deployed to various departments.

Waititu said MCAs will henceforth handle all the activities the ward administrators were handling, adding that the same would root out corruption and ineptitude.

He said his government would allocate each MCA Sh30 million to initiate development projects.

“We shall give every civic leader Sh30 million to develop their wards autonomously but they must form development committees in their respective areas to prioritize development projects,” said Waititu, who was flanked by his deputy James Nyoro and spiritual advisor Bishop David Gakuyo.

The county boss warned sellers and consumers of illicit brew in the county that their days are numbered.

“I am going to deal with sale and consumption of alcohol here and it is a matter of time before youth stopped consuming illicit and second generation brews,” he said.
