In his defence, Waititu said he had not broken any law for him to hand in his weapon. He also said if he surrenders the gun, he will be vulnerable to attacks quoting that Kiambu is not a safe place.

‘’Kiambu is not a safe place. I need my gun to feel protected. If I give it out, it means I will be vulnerable to attacks,’’ said Waititu.

Nkaissery had over the weekend asked the inspector general of police, Joseph Boinnet to check if Waititu had any gun, and if he did, he should surrender it.

The CS also ordered Mombasa governor, Hassan Joho to surrender his firearm or risk being jailed. The governor, just like Waititu said he was not going to surrender the firearm.
