Kabete MP Ferdinand Waititu wants Governor William Kabogo to apologize to Mt Kenya region leaders and locals for insinuating that it was not a guarantee that the region will support Deputy President William Ruto’s presidential bid come 2022.
Waititu on Wednesday said Kabogo owed an apology to Mt Kenya leaders.
He stated that Kabogo is not a spokes-person for the region and that he has not right to make statements on behalf of Mt Kenya leaders and residents.
“I don’t know where my friend Kabogo got the authority to speak on behalf of Mt Kenya leaders,” he said on Phone.
The Kabate lawmaker stated that Kabogo is seeking political relevance.
Waititu said that the Kiambu governor knows that his days in politics are coming to an end.
The MP said that Mt Kenya region is represented by President Uhuru Kenyatta who has the authority to speak on behalf of other leaders.
Other Mt Kenya leaders including Starehe MP Maina Kamanda and his Limuru counterpart John Kiragu had earlier bashed Kabogo over his statements.
On Saturday while in Juja Kabogo is allegedly said to have insinuated that Mt Kenya region will not voted for Ruto.
Kabogo is said to have stated that anyone seeking votes has to win the loyalty of the people.
The Kiambu governor was quoted to have said that no particular candidate in 2022 presidential race has automatic support of the Mt Kenya region.
Deputy President William Ruto will be hoping for Mt Kenya region votes come 2022 for his presidential seat after the retire of President Uhuru Kenyatta who is seeking re-election for a second term in next year’s general election.
However political analysts observe likelihood of the Mt Kenya region not honoring its support for Ruto come 2022 general elections.
