Kiambu Governor Ferdinand Waititu has threatened to sue Kitui Governor Charity Ngilu over an order banning the export of charcoal and sand from the county to other counties.
Waititu argues that the ban is ill-informed and aimed at discriminating a certain community.
Ngilu recently called a crackdown on anybody found burning or ferrying charcoal from Kitui county saying that charcoal burning was killing the economy and destroying the environment.
Kitui is a semi arid county that experiences long dry spells.
Waititu has said he will also sue his Kitui counterpart over the burning of a lorry that was ferrying charcoal from Mwingi to Nairobi.
“Yes, she must be compelled to foot the cost and reimburse the owners of the two lorries,” he said on Sunday at Makongeni, Thika.
Governor waititu said that Ngilu incited the residents of the county and led to the incident.
He noted that this was a recipe for political and ethnic chaos.
