After spending three nights behind bars, Kabete MP, Ferdinand Waititu has finally spoken up.
Waititu said that he does not regret telling Jubilee supporters to defend themselves against Cord if they came to loot their property during their anti-IEBC protests.
This statement was what got the MP locked up as it was deemed incisive by the Kenya police.
Waititu stated that his statement was in no way hate speech. He pointed out that the Cord demos were not a good look for the country’s economy and urged Cord and its followers to carry out peaceful protests.
The MP also stated that the detention was a good thing for him and his colleagues as they got to unite and will now work together to foster unity in the country.
Waititu was in detention together with Gatundu South MP, Moses Kuria, Bahati MP, Kimani Ngunjiri, Machakos senator, Johnstone Muthama, Kitutu Masaba MP, Timothy Bosire, and Suna East MP, Junet Mohammed.
Busia Women Representative Florence Mutua and her Kilifi counterpart, Aisha Jumwa were being held at the Muthaiga Police Station.
The eight legislators were detained from Tuesday to Friday at the Pangani Police Station over hate speech allegations.
