Speaking to journalists  in Thika Town on Wednesday, Waititu asked the police to smoke out  criminals from their dens  and ensure law and order prevails.

The governor said that he has been receiving complaints of deteriorating security in Thika, Juja, Ruiru and Limuru towns.

He said that police have the duty to guarantee security and order.

“The police must up their game and ensure Kiambu residents and Kenyans are safe,” he said.

The governor asked the police not to show any mercy to outlawed criminal gangs that are allegedly re-emerging in some parts of Kiambu.

“We have information that some gangs are re-grouping and I urge the county commissioner to ensure that the gangs are completely crashed,” he said.

There have been concerns over deteriorating security especially in Thika, Kiandutu, Makongeni and Gatuanyaga within Thika constituency.

Last week, County Commissioner Wilson Wanyanga said that police have increased surveillance to nail down  criminal gangs.
