Led by Kiambu Governor Ferdinand Waititu, the politicians from Uhuru's backyard pledged to back Ruto for 'helping' their son become the Head of State for two consecutive terms.

Speaking during a Sunday service that was also attended by the DP at Presbyterian Church of East Africa (PCEA) in Thika, the county boss said the Kikuyu community owed Ruto a 'debt' which must be repaid in the next election.

"As Mt Kenya region, we have seen what you have done to us since 2013 and in 2017. Without you, Uhuru would not have been the President. Last year you campaigned for him and he won again. We are waiting for 2022 so that we can repay you for your good deeds," Waititu remarked.

Speaking at the same event, MPs Githua wa Macukuru (Kabete) and his Thika Town counterpart Patrick Wainaina vowed to mobilise their people to support Ruto in the tight race to the house on the hill.

"We will kneel down before God so that we can pray that the door for the one he has opened becomes the President in 2022," Wainaina said.
