Kiambu Jubilee Party governor hopeful Ferdinand Waititu has urged the business community to endorse his bid promising to spearhead their interests if elected governor.
Speaking to journalists after a meeting with Kenya National Chamber of Commerce and Industry (KNCI) officials, Waititu said that his government will put in place business friendly policies that will boost small and large scale business enterprises.The Jubilee hopeful further pledged to create a fund that will give soft loans to traders. The Kabete MP said that his administration will be banking on business to boost the county’s economic development.Waititu criticized Governor William Kabogo’s administration accusing it of frustrating traders and business people.He claimed that Kabogo’s administration has imposed huge levies and taxes on business people resulting in the stagnancy of the county’s economy.“I am an expert on economic issues and my focus will be to empower Kiambu people economically if elected on August 8th,” he said as quoted by The Star.Waititu also pledged to create an entrepreneurship fund for young people wishing to venture into business.He said that university and college graduates have entrepreneurial skills which can be harnessed through entrepreneurship.The Jubilee hopeful also pledged to woo for foreign investment.He said that his administration if elected will give incentives to investors willing to pump their money into the county’s economy.Waititu is eyeing to send incumbent Kabogo packing. The governor hopeful humiliated Kabogo to win the JP ticket in he nomination.Kabogo is however seeking re-election as an independent candidate.
