Kiambu County Governor Ferdinand Waititu has been applauded for banning illicit brews in the county.
According to Makongeni MCA Chege Waithumbi, the ban is has taken effect as the county’s compliance rate to the law is 60 percent.
This, he said been has been achieved through several crackdowns and regular inspections across the county with statistics showing that the public had welcomed the ban in a big way.
Speaking on Sunday at St Mulumba Catholic Church, Waithumbi said that the crackdown will help a lot especially the young people coming up with different business ideas and innovation.
“The challenges we have as youths will not be solved through illicit brews.Instead we are doubling the problem and this will be a mountain in the final run.Lets embrace positive changes and chances of excelling will come on our way,"he said.
The MCA also warned the liqour sellers against the use of the outlawed brews, saying that they risk a fine and risk lives at the expense of their customers.
"Dont risk your businesses because of money that is not genuine.You are getting it at the expense of your fellow Kenyans.Lets shun from our old ways of doing things to foster development,"he concluded.
