Waititu says that Kabogo’s assertion is wrong and misplaced.

The Kabete MP said that his decision to run for Kiambu seat is to better the living standards of the people and not to loot as allegedly claimed by Kabogo.

In an interview with the Star, Waititu said that he is seeking to empower and change the locals' lives.

“It is malicious for Kabogo to claim that I am running for the seat to enrich myself,” he said.

The MP instead  accused governor Kabogo of mismanaging the Kiambu county resources.

“Before he (Kabogo) speaks he should explain to us on how he has managed Kiambu funds and other resources,” he said.

Waititu claimed that Kabogo has been sidelining some parts of Kiambu when it comes to allocation of resources.

The Kabete MP vowed to streamline service delivery if elected governor. 'Baba Yao', as he is also kwon, added that locals will have the say in allocation of county resources.

A recent survey by Trends and Insights for Africa (TIFA) showed that Kabogo enjoys locals support at 45 per cent compared to Waititu’s 33 per cent.

Waititu has however trashed the survey saying that Kiambu people are tired and bored with Kabogo’s leadership. Both candidates are eyeing the Jubilee Party ticket to contest the Kiambu governor seat.
