Jubilee Party leaders will resist any attempts by NASA to have a coalition government, Kiambu Governor Ferdinand Waititu has said.
Speaking during a funeral service in Kiambu that was also attended by Opposition leader Raila Odinga, Waititu told the NASA leader to concede defeat if President Uhuru Kenyatta wins the repeat presidential election slated for October 26.
The Governor said Kenya is a democratic country where people decide who will be their leaders and therefore Raila should respect the Constitution by respecting the will of the people.
"We all know that the former Prime Minister really fought so that this country can have a Constitution that will guide the running of this country and we are asking you (Raila) that you follow the Constitution has said that the will of the people is superior," said Waititu, as quoted by the Nation.
When it was his turn to speak, Raila said: "If it is my brother Uhuru who will win, I will accept the will of the people because I know if it's me he will also respect that."
The leaders were speaking during the burial of former Nairobi Mayor Samuel Mbugua on Friday.
Mbugua was a father to former Nairobi Women Representative Rachel Shebesh.
