Two members of the Wakali Kwanza criminal gang were on Friday shot dead by police in Mombasa.Confirming the incident, Coast regional police boss Larry Kieng said the two were shot dead in Bamburi area after attempting to steal from members of the public.The police boss said officers were forced to open fire after the gang of ten members who were armed with crude weapons accosted them."The two were in a group of 10 people who were planning to terrorise residents tonight. When they were confronted by police, the youths who were armed with crude weapons accosted them forcing them to open fire," said Kieng, as quoted by the Star.The other eight members who are said to be not older than 20 years managed to escape.The gang has been linked to armed robberies targeting pedestrians and motorists in the Coastal city, the Star reports.
