A section of members of the Mombasa-based outlawed sect, Wakali Kwanza, are ready to surrender and reform.
This is according to Mombasa senator Mohammed Faki.
He said he was in touch with the youth who confirmed that they were willing to reform but required support from the government so as to engage them in constructive work in the society.
Speaking during a cleanup exercise in Kisauni, Faki indicated the government would support such youth to ensure they do not participate in illegal activities including doing drugs.
He said unemployment had caused many youth in Kisauni and other parts of the County to engage in criminal activities to survive.
"Some members of Wakali Kwanza gang are ready to reform and they need our support. We will engage them in community development activities such as cleaning of our streets and collection of garbage. We need to ensure they're not idle," said the lawmaker on Sunday.
Faki led a group of youth in cleaning Kisauni streets where he urged youth to shun drugs and criminal activities.
