Gatundu North sub county children’s officer Joyce Muthoni has urged parents and guardians to instil discipline in their children especially as they go on December long holidays to prevent them from being lured into engaging in immoral activities.

Speaking from her office in Kamwangi on Wednesday, Muthoni noted that cases of children's indiscipline reported in her office were on the rise and parents had a role to play to tame indiscipline.

"Since the elimination of corporal punishment, immorality, pornography and pre-marital sex among children among other vices have been on the rise and to tame this, parents should wake up and encourage their children to indulge in productive activities," she said.

Muthoni revealed that the number of children lying on the streets in Gatundu is also on the rise something she attributed to ignorance from able parents.

"Street urchins have increased in Gatundu and I believe that ignorance from parents is the major course of this. Any child who will be caught on the street and their parents identified, that parent will have a lot to be answerable to," she affirmed.
