Former Bumula Member of Parliament Wakoli Bifwoli has dismissed criticism from a section of Luhya politicians opposed to his appointment as Chairman of Agricultural Development Corporation (ADC).
“Instead of the politicians thanking President Uhuru Kenyatta for appointing one of their own to the parastatal job, they are busy creating tribal divisions,” Wakoli said.
Some leaders from Kakamega County claimed that the president could have appointed someone from the county since the late Soita Shitanda hailed from there.
In response to their remarks, Bifwoli said that the seat does not belong to Luhyas and asked them to stop politicising his appointment.
''The president has a right to appoint anybody from any part of this country to be the chairman of ADC, so I don't see why our leaders are complaining about it,'' he said.
He asked leaders from Western region to stop dividing themselves on tribal lines.
''Why should some leaders say that the president could have not appointed a Bukusu because the seat was held by a Kabras person, I think we are all Luhyas,'' Wakoli said.
He thanked Uhuru for appointing him and promised to support Jubilee to the end of his political career.
''I will support the president fully. The political party that he will belong to is where I will be also,'' he added.
