Residents of Kalimani village in Kangundo sub county are in grief following the death of a 63-year-old woman who died after a perimeter wall collapsed on her.
The woman's husband identified as Jackson Nzioka is also fighting for his life at the Kenyatta National Hospital where he was referred to after sustaining serious head and chest injuries after the incident.
As the rescuers were recovering the body of the woman, their attention was drawn by the groaning of the woman's husband who was writhing in excruciating pain.
The incident shook the village as residents now worry of their lives as heavy rains are expected in the area.
Kangundo Deputy County Commissioner Samuel Njora described the incident as fatal and unfortunate and urged residents especially those living in landslide prone areas to take precautions to prevent casualties during this rainy season.
"The government calls upon all residents to be wary of the status of their surroundings environment and structures to prevent such occurrences from happening in future," he said.
