The debate on who will become the second in command after President Uhuru Kenyatta and his Deputy William Ruto complete their second term in office, if Jubilee wins in 2022, has already started to elicit mixed reactions from different factions.

Even before the dust of the October rerun settles, Sirisia MP John Waluke on Saturday divulged that the Luhya community is already working on a plan to produce one of their own to take over the office of the DP when that time.

Although Waluke did not mention any leaders, reliable sources indicate that former Budalang'i MP Ababu Namwamba and Water CS Eugene Wamalwa are among the front-runners.

"We are sure Ruto will be the next president and as Luhyas we are targeting the number two slot," he said, as quoted by the Star.

The lawmaker also called upon Uhuru to form a government that will take care of the needs of all communities.

Speaking separately, a section of Gema leaders has hinted at fronting Devolution CS Mwangi Kiunjuri to be DP when that time comes.

According to the Gema organizing secretary Paul Kinyanjui, Kiunjuri has proven that he has what it takes to defend the community as the DP.

"He has also proved to be an effective servant of the people, considering how he has performed since he joined the cabinet," he said.
