Water Cabinet Secretary Eugene Wamalwa has condemned the recent attacks witnessed in both Jubilee and the National Super Alliance (Nasa) rallies.
Jubilee team led by president Uhuru Kenyatta and his deputy William Ruto were jeered in Kisumu county during their campaign tour while Nasa team led by opposition leader Raila Odinga were heckled in Kabarnet and attacked in Thika, Kiambu county, forcing them to cut short their speeches and run for their safety.
Speaking at Sangalo Training Institute, Thursday, during the launch of an irrigation project funded by Egyptian government, Wamalwa said every leader has the right and freedom to campaign in any region across the country without being interfered.
“It’s the constitutional right of every leader to go to every corner and county in this country to ask for votes and sell their policies peacefully and freely,” Wamalwa said.
The CS further warned supporters of politicians that engaging in such attacks could cause them face consequences such as arrest.
“I humbly appeal to the youths that despite you political differences, let no one dupe you by inducing you to disrupt rallies. You will be arrested, jailed, hurt ir evenkilled,” he added.
