A team of Jubilee Party members led by Water Cabinet Secretary Eugene Wamalwa took campaigns to the Western region in a bid to counter the opposition.
Wamalwa was on Saturday in Kakamega and Busia where he commissioned water projects and drummed up support for Jubilee.
“I believe that the Jubilee merger is not killing democracy but uniting people. The era of small tribal parties is over in Kenya,’’ he said.
Busia Governor Sospeter Ojaamong who hosted Mr Wamalwa had a verbal exchange with Jubilee allied MPs who had accompanied the CS.
The MPs were irritated by Ojaamong’s statement when he said Jubilee members from the region would not get xecutive positions.
On his part, Bumula MP Boniface Otsiula criticised Ojaamong saying the Jubilee merger had stressed the Orange Democratic Movement party to the extent that the party cannot campaign beyond its strongholds.
“Mr Governor, you can see how the Jubilee merger is stressing your party. ODM is only campaigning in their strongholds, you need to traverse all regions, including Rift Valley and Central,’’ he told Ojaamong.
