Water Cabinet Secretary Eugene Wamalwa met leaders from Murang’a over the controversial water collector project.
The meeting follows sharp divisions amongst the leaders after some of them criticised the government for failing to consider its negative effects on residents.
The CS said Sunday he will use the meeting to clarify issues surrounding the controversial Sh6.8 billion water project.
“There is nothing wrong with the project; I want to assure Kenyans that it is a good development step. We should all embrace it,” he revealed.
“I will meet all stakeholders on Monday (today) to continue discussing the Murang’a project. We will give the information lacking to ensure clarity. We will discuss deeply on this project,” he said.
While Murang’a County Governor Mwangi Wairia supports the project the area Senator Kambi Gitura, opposed to and called for its termination.
He is among local leaders who accused the national government of undertaking the government in this regard of a feasibility study by the county government that highlighted its negative effects.
