Water CS Eugene Wamalwa has demanded an apology from ANC leader Musalia Mudavadi, after the debacle that happened on December 26.
Speaking on Monday, the CS said he expected an apology from Mudavadi, whom he accused of leading a group of youth to heckle him.
He further noted that he had received and accepted an apology from the community elders, after an incident that he was forced to turn away from a community celebration.
“I have received and accepted the apology of the elders because I respect them and respect the community. I expect Mudavadi to also apologize,” he said.
Drama ensued on Tuesday last week at the Luhya cultural event, where Wamalwa was heckled and his motorcade forced to turn away by angry youths.
Mudavadi, who was then addressing the crowd, distanced himself from the incident but said Wamalwa never informed them of his attendance.
There are fears that the incident might create bad blood between the Bukusu and Maragoli, with elders moving to try salvage the situation.
The elders then sent an apology to Wamalwa to save the situation.
Leaders from the larger Luhya community have condemned the incident, with some taking sides in support of the two warring leaders.
Wamalwa is allied to the Jubilee side, while Mudavadi is a NASA co-principal.
