Water and Irriation Cabinet Secretary (CS) Eugene Wamalwa has been accused of concentrating more on politics and abandoning his constitutional duties which bars a CS from active politics.

Wamalwa who was appointed to head the crucial ministry has been seen severally endorsing the Jubilee government and being present in political rallies by the government.

When he was being vetted for the docket last year, he told the Parliamentary Appointments Committee that he would discharge his duties as a CS and abandon politics, something he has failed to uphold. 

Wamalwa resigned from his position as the party leader for Ford Kenya, where he was succeeded by Bungoma governor Kenneth Lusaka. He seems not to have relinquished his duties fully since he has been in forums undertaken by the party.

Last week, he led a delegation of Ford Kenya officials to State House after the party folded arms to join the new Jubilee Party.

Energy CS Alfred Keter was also last year accused of engaging in active politics shortly after being appointed. 

The former Kericho Senator was a chief campaigner of his successor, Aaron Cheruiyot which saw him being criticized especially by KANU Party leaders as well as the opposition.

Most CS appointments were made to former politicians, perhaps the reason they have failed to avoid active politics.
