Wamalwa who spoke in Bumala, Busia on Sunday said members of the Luhya community can forge a united movement ahead of the poll without necessarily dissolving political parties enjoying support in the region.

Amani National Congress (ANC) leader Musalia Mudavadi and his Ford Kenya counterpart Moses Wetangula are currently pushing for the dissolution of their respective parties and form one.

He, however, said that even if members of the Luhya community unite, they should know that they can not win the presidency without support from other regions.

"Whereas we support people uniting together, the idea of forming the Mulembe party is ill-advised. The time for tribal formation is over. What we want now is politics of unity," Wamalwa said as quoted by Daila Nation.

"Let us join hands with other Kenyans in ensuring that the county moves in one direction."

He asked opposition allied leaders in the country to stop politics of division and join President Uhuru Kenyatta in developing the country after a long period of campaigns.
