Water CS Eugene Wamalwa will have a hard time seeking the Nairobi County governorship on the Jubilee Party ticket after two MPs said he is not qualified for the job.
On Tuesday, MPs Johnson Sakaja (nominated) and Dennis Waweru (Dagoretti) vowed to work together as 'Team Nairobi' ahead of the 2017 polls.
"Our main mission is the unity of Nairobi and this is why we are running for governor's seat," Sakaja said as quoted by the Star.
The two who spoke after attending a funeral service at Githima PCEA Church in Dagoretti said they understand the challenges Nairobians face better than the Water minister.
"The common Jubilee 'enemy' is Kidero. So, the focus is on ousting him. But then again, those riding on any endorsement should know such a move will not help them," added the nominated MP.
The two stated that 'Team Nairobi', which includes Senator Sonko, will decide on a structure that will guide their campaigns as they ready for next year's general election.
They said they will continue working as a team and will treat anyone's win as collective, the Star added.
Jubilee is eyeing the governor's post currently held by Cord's, Governor Evans Kidero.
Several Jubilee leaders seeking the seat aside from Sakaja, Wamalwa and Waweru are; Senator Mike Sonko and former Housing assistant minister Margaret Wanjiru.
