Kiambu senator Kimani Wamatangi has called for speedy investigations into the killing of Kabete MP George Muchai.

Addressing the press at Lee Funeral home today, Wamatangi said the killing of the MP together with his bodyguards should be thoroughly investigated.

Muchai was ambushed and murdered by armed gunmen along Uhuru highway at the Kenyatta Avenue round about, Nairobi.

“The police should quickly launch investigations into the killing of Muchai,” he said.

Wamatangi further asked the police to collect the CCTV cameras along the highway before they are tampered with. He said the killers can easily be identified through the CCTV footage.

The Kiambu senator alleged that the MP had recorded statements that his life was in danger.

The senator lawmaker termed the killing as a well planned assassination.

“Those behind the killing must be brought to book,” said Ruiru MP Esther Gathongo.

Gathongo who spoke at the Lee Funeral where the MPs body is lying asked the police to conduct thorough probe.

She said those behind the killing must be unraveled, arrested and charged in court.

Kiambu town MP Jude Njomo also condoled with the family of the MP and called for the arrest of the gunmen.

The MPs car is said to have been sprayed by bullets at around 4 am Saturday.

According to police, the MP in company of four body guards was killed in cold blood. The family of the MP who are aid to have been travelling in a different vehicle escaped the incident.

Various leaders including former Prime Minister Raila Odinga have condemned the incident and called for speedy investigations.
