Kiambu Senator Kimani Wamatangi has condemned the Kikuyu song ‘Ikamba’ allegedly mocking the Kamba community.

Wamatangi says that the song is unacceptable, disgraceful, defamatory , distasteful and provocative.

Speaking  to journalists at the Parliament Buildings in Nairobi on Wednesday, Wamatangi asked the government security agencies to urgently probe the matter and ensure the culprits are brought to book.

“The 'Ikamba' song is a disgrace and as leaders from the Kikuyu community we don’t condone it at all,” Wamatangi told journalists.

The Kiambu senator said that the Kamba  and  Kikuyu communities and Kenyans have been living peacefully, adding that any attempts to cause fear or ridicule should be strongly condemned.

He said these  country belongs to all Kenyans, adding that politicians should not be a reason for division.

The controversial 'Ikamba'Ikamba'  song continues to draw condemnation across the political divide.

Several Kamba politicians have demanded for arrest and prosecution of the two artists behind the the song.

On Tuesday, governor Charity Ngilu termed the song as redicule of the highest order to the Kamba community.

Kalonzo Musyoka’s Wiper party has also waded into the controversial song asking the police and the NCIC to apprehend the culprits.

The Party vowed to seek legal action should the government agencies fail to arrest and prosecute the authors of the mockery song.

The controversial song authored by Isaiah and waharaaka allegedly mocks the Kamba coymunity and seems to target governor Charity Ngilu over her charcoal ban.

In what has been interpreted as mockery, the song starts with the artists eating mangoes from Ukambani. 

The artists in the song question what members of the Kamba community will feed on once the mango season comes to an end. 

The artists goes on to answer the question by stating that Kamba's will feed on dogs once the mango season is over.

The duo mock Ngilu for imposing the ban on charcoal burning in Kitui by showing footage of a lorry which was allegedly torched by locals in the county three weeks ago.

On Monday, Makueni senator Mutula Kilonzo Junior wrote to the National Cohesion and Integration Commission (NCIC) and the Director of Public Prosecutions demanding prompt legal action against the musicians.

 NCIC  boss  Francis Ole Kaparo in an interview with a local daily said the commission investigators are reviewing the song promising action on those behind it.
