Kiambu County Senator Kimani Wamatangi has raised concern over the rise of insecurity in the county.
The senator said police officers in the area should intensify security patrols to help end crime.
"Criminals have taken advantage of laxity among police officers to terrorize residents. I am appealing to the security agencies to beef up security across the county to ensure residents are safe,” Wamatangi said.
Wamatangi urged young people who are engaging in crime venture into small businesses to earn a living.
“Youths should start small businesses to improve lifestyles instead of engaging in criminal activities. Leaders should also engage young people to keep them busy as this will help end crime,” he added.
He urged the church to pray for young people to receive salvation.
Wamatangi was speaking on Sunday at St. Stephen Catholic Church in Gachie, Kiambaa.
