Kiambu Senator Kimani Wamatangi is the new Chairman of the Senate Committee on Roads and Transport.
Wamatangi was elected on Wednesday unopposed during the ongoing election of chairpersons and their vice-chairpersons to various House committees.
Marsabit Senator Godana Hargura was elected the Vice Chairperson.
Speaking at the Parliament Buildings moments after his election, Wamatangi thanked his colleagues for expressing confidence in his leadership and vowed to serve without bias.
"My committee will know no political affiliations or boundaries. I can assure Kenyans that we will traverse all parts of the country to ensure the roads are passable and in a good state," he said.
Other chairpersons elected so far include Gideon Moi (Baringo)- Information and Communication Technology, Ephraim Maina (Nyeri)- Energy, Peter Ndwiga (Embu)- Agriculture and Nyandarua's Mwangi Githiomi who will chair Environment and Natural Resources Committee.
