Kiambu Senator Kimani Wamatangi has said the hardline stance by the opposition on the Independent Electoral and Boundaries Commission (IEBC) could lead to violence come 2017 polls.
According to Wamatangi, the opposition was giving too many demands that would only lead to violence.
The Senator further believes that the demands by the opposition are a scapegoat for the poll violence come 2017.
He made the remarks on Tuesday morning during NTV's AMLive. "The demands by the opposition on IEBC matters are too much. The demands keep arising time and again and this is not good for the progress of the country," said Wamatangi.
"These demands by the opposition are just a scapegoat for violence that they are planning to fan when they lose the 2017 elections. It is even clear that they will lose the 2017 polls to Jubilee party," added Wamatangi.
The opposition led by Coalition for Reforms and Democracy (Cord) has been adamant that the current IEBC officials leave office and pave way for new IEBC officials.
Cord also wants the new IEBC officials to be in office by December 23, and all tenders processed by the outgoing officials nullified.
