Speaking at Ngecha Pentecostal Evangelism Fellowship of Africa (PEFA) church over the weekend, Wamatangi noted that the disabled are very talented but they lack support.

"Baskets, paintings craft works and all kinds of decorations created by the disabled are very unique and can fetch a lot of money from the outside world and we should therefore harness the market to benefit this people,” said Wamatangi.

The senator said that the disabled persons are still disadvantaged as very few employers are willing to employ them.

He said that he had already agreed with the National Youth Services (NYS) that it will also consider recruiting a number of the disabled persons during the on-going recruitment.

Wamatangi castigated parents who lock up their disabled children saying that the government through the Department of Social Services was working closely with law enforcement officers to apprehend those hiding their children hence denying them opportunity to grow.

He called on the disabled persons to fight for their space in all areas both in employment and development adding that it is constitutional.

He further urged Kiambu residents to embrace the disabled in the society saying they are Kenyans who deserves equal opportunity and treatment.
